Lucas' Homeboy

I just can't wait for Lucas and his cousin Beck to meet.  I just know that they are going to be partners in crime.

Lucas and I are having a great weekend!!!  We will be posting a 30 week belly picture on Monday.  Lucas is getting so big and so is my belly.

Almost Forgot...

The tests that were done on Monday came out great.  Lucas was moving around and is growing everyday.  My cervix has not gotten any shorter (thank God) and I am still only a "fingertip" dilated.  I think the great results really helped the doctors decide to move our bedrest home.

Home Sweet Home

I am so excited to say that we are home!!!  Yesterday the head specialist came in and said that with my primary doctors okay we were going to be released today.  We of course would still be on strict bedrest (only up for the bathroom and a shower every other day).  I told my Mom and Dad who were at the hospital with me to hurry and pack up before they changed their mind.  I was in shock that they were releasing me since I thought I would be lucky to be going home on Friday.  We were released early afternoon yesterday.  It felt so good to hug and kiss Ozzie, sleep in my own bed with Mike and Ozzie, and just to be home :)  We feel so blessed to have been released from the hospital with Lucas still in my belly.  Everyday additional day with Lucas inside my belly is such a blessing.  We will go back to the doctors next Wednesday for a check-up.

Weekend News

We hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!  Our weekend has been pretty boring expect for a couple of things.  The doctors decided to take me off the full time contraction monitor and instead put me on the contraction monitor and heartbeat monitor for Lucas three times a day for an hour. I am so excited to sleep tonight without a monitor and its nice to not have a constant indentation on your stomach.  The doctors were not suppose to do an ultrasound or cervix check until Thursday but I talked with the specialist this morning and told him I was starting to go a little stir crazy and it would make me feel a lot better if we could do these tests sooner then later (plus it will give us an idea if we have any hope to go home this week).  He agreed to do the tests tomorrow morning (thank God!!!).  So please pray, pray, pray that it all looks okay and we will hopefully be on our way home for bedrest on Friday.

Hopefully Home Soon

The last two days have been going great.  I have had few contractions and Lucas is moving constantly.  We are counting down the days till next Thursday when the specialist is going to check my cervix to see if there has been any change and do an ultrasound of Lucas.  In the last ultrasound, which was almost two weeks ago he was measuring in the 90th percentile (he's a big boy).  If my cervix hasn't changed and Lucas looks good then I can go home either Friday or Saturday.  Of course, I will still be on strict bedrest at home, but at least I will be home with Mike and Ozzie.  I can't even explain how excited we are to hopefully be going home soon. Please pray that everything stays stable and we will be on our way home in a week.

I had to post this picture of my Dad and Beck, I just think it is so adorable.

Another Test Down

I had to drink this delicious orange drink and have my blood drawn twice today for my glucose test and thankfully I passed. Lucas and I had a great day and watched a lot of TV. We are counting down the days till 30 weeks when hopefully we can go home. We really miss Ozzie and can't wait to sleep in our own bed.

28 Weeks and 2 Days

We are very excited to say that we made it to 28 weeks!!! Our next goal is 29 weeks, which we will reach on Monday. The doctors said that if we continue to stay stable with no contractions then we will most likely get to move our bedrest home between 30 and 32 weeks. Of course we are hoping for 30 weeks. Please help pray for us that 30 weeks will come quickly and with no contractions :) The picture is of my 28 week belly.

3D Ultrasound

The weekend before we started our stay at "Hotel Saddleback" we went in for a fun 3D ultrasound of Lucas. It was so fun because both our families were there for all the fun. For a little background every ultrasound we have had Lucas does not cooperate and will turn his head and hide. This ultrasound was no different. Since we knew this about Lucas I picked out the largest package with the most time so that hopefully we would come out with some pictures. Well...we did come out with some pictures but most of them included his arm or arms hiding his face. The ultrasound lady felt bad since the pictures were not the best so they invited us back on Valentine's Day for a second try. Two days later we arrived at "Hotel Saddleback" so needless to say the first pictures we got will have to do. Personally I think Lucas looks just like Mike especially the eyes and nose and for those of you that know Mike well I would guess that it sounds like Lucas' personality is like Mike too (not a big rule follower/strong headed). I am just so glad that we made it in to the 3d ultrasound before we started our stay :)

We heart Lucas!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Last night went well except for one slight hiccup. At around 2 am my contractions started up again. In 45 minutes I had 6 contractions so the doctors decided to give me a shot of tributilin. Thank goodness the medicine immediately stopped the contractions. So other than the side effects of a racing heart and not being able to sleep Lucas stayed safe inside my belly for another night. Our big goal is to get to Monday when I will be 28 weeks pregnant and a lot of the complications for a premature baby go down. Mike and I can't say enough for the great care we are receiving and all the love and support we have received from our family and friends.

The Beginning of our Exciting Journey

Sunday, February 8th I woke up in the middle of the night not feeling very well.  I tried to go back to sleep but when I woke up in the morning my body was really sore and I felt a little like I had the flu.  Lucas who I feel is a lot like his dad is always moving in my belly, but since last night he had been very quiet.  I decided to go to work and would call the doctors from school. When I got my first available moment at school I called the doctor and they told me I had to come in right away.  I called Mike and let him know what the doctors said.  He made it to the hospital before me.  Mike and I arrived at Dr. Martin's office around 12 noon.  The ultrasound tech said Lucas looked great... strong heartbeat and he was moving around.  When she took a closer look she immediately got on the phone and the word emergency came from her lips. Within 30 minutes I was in a wheel chair on my way to the maternity ward at Saddleback Womens's Hospital. Mike was by my side during the entire time.   I was having contractions every 3 minutes and to my doctor's surprise my cervix was very thin. At 27 weeks Lucas needs more time to grow inside my belly. They immediately started me on a strong medication to stop my contractions and prevent him from delivering. Thankfully things have calmed down and we are all hoping that Lucas will remain safely in my belly for weeks to come. Although we have been told to take it day by day we both feel that Lucas is being taken care of and he is in God's hands. I am currently on strict bed rest at the hospital and am hoping to see visitors once Lucas and I are completely stabilized.  We hope to continually update Lucas' blog and share his journey with all our wonderful friends and family.
